Learning Mathematics through a Multimedia Construction Kit
Multimedia elements addressing mathematical problems can supplement or
even provide an alternative to classical forms of learning and teaching. In
the project math-kit we are developing a web-based construction kit in order
to support teachers and students with interactive learning elements. The
construction kit concept allows for high flexibility: its modules can be
reused and recombined or even integrated into different courses. In this paper
we present examples of how to use the construction kit in the teaching of
mathematics and mechanical engineering as well as in self-education. The
overall subject of the presented units are the complex numbers which are
fundamental in mathematics as well as in science and engineering. In
this context we will demonstrate the reusability, recombination and
integration of math-kit elements in different situations.
